Sound familiar?

What Shopify store owners post about Shopify Payments, copied word for word. None of it is about Payd.

  • Payouts stopped
We have been with Shopify for 5 years with a flawless track record… One day recently, the payouts just stopped.
    Trustpilot review
  • 120-day reserve
Outcome: 10% reserve on all sales for 120 days. Timing is fun since that window covers Sep, Oct, Nov (BFCM), Dec, basically my entire Q4.

  • “High risk”
So yeah, they deactivated Shopify Payments because of one client (2 disputes) out of about 120.

  • Funds frozen
Because these funds are frozen, I cannot process payroll for my office staff or pay my business bills.

  • Suppliers unpaid
I can’t pay my supplier like this

  • Orders stuck
I have not been able to send orders because of this hold and now I’m getting chargebacks.

The common thread is Shopify Payments. Payd takes it out of your checkout.

Change the processor. Keep the store.

One thing changes: who takes the payment. The rest of your Shopify setup stays where it is.

What changes

  1. The processor

Your own Whop account takes each payment, not Shopify Payments.

  2. The checkout page

Buyers pay on a Payd checkout in Shopify’s layout, at your own checkout address if you add one.

What stays

  • Your store and theme
  • Your apps
  • Products and prices
  • Shipping rates
  • Discount codes
  • Orders in Shopify
  • Fulfillment
  • Order confirmation emails

Your discounts and bundle prices carry over. Some carts still go to Shopify checkout on their own: gift cards, subscriptions and other currencies. Apps that add to Shopify’s checkout page don’t run on Payd’s.

How it works

Three steps in your browser.

About 20 minutes for your first store. Every store after that: about 2 minutes. Buyers keep using Shopify checkout until you go live.

  1. Step 1 · about 5 minutes

    Connect Shopify

Create an app in your Shopify admin, then paste its Client ID and secret into Payd.

  2. Step 2 · about 3 minutes

    Connect Whop

Paste one Whop API key. Payd sets up the rest in your Whop account and becomes your Whop business’s partner. Your Whop fees don’t change.

  3. Step 3 · a $1 test

    Test, then go live

Paste one line into your theme’s footer, place a $1 test order (a card hold Payd releases right after), and go live.

No developer. No code editing. Pause any time.

What you get

Same store. New way to get paid.

  • Out of Shopify Payments’ hands

Held, reserved or turned down by Shopify Payments? Each sale lands in your own Whop balance in minutes, and Payd never touches the money. Withdraw any time: instant payouts land in minutes.

  • No extra fees

Nothing on top of your Whop account’s usual processing: no Payd subscription and no Payd cut of your sales.

  • A checkout buyers already know

It follows Shopify’s checkout layout, with your logo and colors, so buyers recognize the last step.

  • Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay

Through your own Whop account. Apple Pay® and Google Pay™ once Whop verifies your checkout domain. PayPal where your Whop account offers it.

  • Connect your pixels

Meta (with Conversions API) and TikTok report every purchase from the Payd checkout. Paste your IDs once in Settings.

  • A way back to Shopify checkout

Pause Payd and buyers are on Shopify checkout again. Carts Payd can’t take exactly, like gift cards, go there on their own.

More answers

What does it cost?

No extra fees: no Payd subscription and no Payd cut of your sales. You pay Whop’s usual processing on each sale, and your Shopify plan stays as it is. Connecting makes Payd your Whop business’s partner in Whop’s partner program; your Whop fees don’t change. If you signed up with an invite link, your account has lifetime access, whatever Payd charges later.

When do I get paid?

Each payment shows up in your Whop balance within minutes of checkout. Withdraw it from Whop whenever you like: instant payouts land in minutes, and Whop has slower bank transfers too. Whop sets the payout fees: withdrawal options.

Whop may review some withdrawals before they go out. For physical orders, Whop may wait for tracking before it releases the money, so add tracking in Shopify as usual and Payd passes it on.

Do I keep Shop Pay?

No. Shop Pay only works inside Shopify’s own checkout, so it can’t come with you. On the Payd checkout, buyers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay (once Whop verifies your checkout domain), or PayPal where your Whop account offers it. Setup shows you how to turn off the Buy it now and Shop Pay buttons, so every buyer reaches Payd.

Does it work on Shopify Basic?

Payd connects on every Shopify plan. On Basic, Shopify can limit which buyer details an app writes into orders, so the $1 test order checks this before you go live. You don’t need Shopify Plus.

Can Whop hold my money too?

Yes. Whop is the processor and has its own risk rules: it can keep a reserve on new accounts, pre-orders or some product types, wait for tracking on physical orders, or hold a payout. Its Seller Terms say when and for how long. What’s different: Whop approves your business for card payments before you go live, so you know where you stand before your first sale. The money sits in your own Whop account, where you can see it. Payd sends your tracking numbers to Whop automatically when it can, and never holds your money.

Is Payd approved by Shopify?

No. Payd is an independent tool, not affiliated with Shopify. Shopify’s terms ask stores to use Shopify Checkout, and its API terms don’t allow outside checkouts that record orders through the API without its permission, so Shopify can act on the app you create or on your store. Using an outside checkout is your call. You can pause Payd at any time and buyers are back on Shopify checkout. The details are in our Terms.

Keep the store. Get paid.

Connect Shopify, connect Whop, test with a $1 card hold, go live. About 20 minutes for your first store. Every store after that: about 2 minutes.
